Job Summary:

Our company encourages applications to the Fragrance Development Scientist position. This position will be responsible for delivering the best fragrance options with business orientation working on assigned and proactive projects. It is important that this leader understands the fragrance strategy, market trends, business needs and identifies market and business opportunities to keep a continuous improvement loop. The Fragrance Development Scientist will be responsible for building networking with the Commercial, I&S and PD teams as well as with the houses to have a more integrated vision of business needs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide the fragrance development work for a given category or categories or emerging categories (e.g. Fabric Conditioners, Personal Wash, Skin Care, etc).

The work involves:

  • Creation, strengthening and maintenance of the fragrance collection(s) for the assigned category (or categories) ensuring the collections are kept updated and in line with brand equities and planned initiatives and projects.

  • Selection and recommendation of fragrances for B and C projects, consumer research and/or market introduction based on hedonic, performance, cost parameters, fit to concept and fit to brand.

  • Leading and guiding cross-functional teams in the development of new fragrances for all A projects within the assigned category. The person needs to identify and align fragrance deliverables and technical issues with partners in other functions and with management.

  • Seeks for and introduces new approaches, ideas or processes to fragrance development that will strengthen CP’s fragrance portfolio beyond current levels.

  • Incorporates new fragrance technologies identified by the Fragrance Early Research team into the downstream pipeline of fragrance initiatives when needed to deliver a new or improved benefit to the consumer.

  • Provides proactive ideas and concepts to their Marketing counterparts ground in fragrance market trends considering adjacent categories and key competitors’ latest moves.

  • Leading and guiding the involvement and the work of our external partners (Fragrance Houses) in the development of fragrances for the assigned category.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or any other related field.

  • English: Advanced- Proficiency

  • 4 to 5 years in R&D

  • Experience in fragrance development, fragrance evaluation, project management and development, coordinating several areas (Mkg, CIC, TI, SC) to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
