Job Purpose(Summary of what the job exists to accomplish)

The position is responsible for the development and implementation of the East West Africa brand strategy. This person is also responsible for leading the local teams to implement the strategy at a local level.

  • Ensuring a “One Africa Strategy” for the region.

  • Ability to multi-task and lead teams across 43 countries (16 priority markets)

External:Agencies (eg. Advertising, Media, Research etc.), Distributors

Development and implementation of brands’ East West Africa strategy

  • In charge of all aspects of New Products and their Marketing Mix - with the exception ofMedia, product development and research:

  • Launch Grid / timing by country

  • Assortment Strategy

  • Top Ten Priorities

  • Multi-lingual pack adaptations

  • Pricing Strategy

  • Public Relations Strategy

  • Promotional Strategy

  • In store media

  • All visual developments

  • Sourcing strategy

  • Leading the Go To Market (GTM) teams for implementation of the East West Africa strategy at a local level, for achieving a consistent launch execution and ensuring all New Products and base business become or stay successful. Responsible for centralised development and local execution of 5P Best Practice

  • Represent GTM Team & get local GM’s/ EWA leadership team approval

Daily management of the business and product portfolio for the category in the 7 Clusters

  • Close contact to the local business to facilitate with on going business issues and to ensure local business stays healthy

  • Marketing Mix /Activities Coordination

  • Base Business Defence Plans

  • Best practice sharing coordination

  • Sizing / Pricing

  • Promotional plans/ catalogues

  • P&L management

  • Sku activation and tracking

Analysis of in-market performance and communication to senior management

  • New Products and Base Business

  • Continuous Improvement Review

Complexity Reduction / Business Simplification

  • Formulae / SKU reduction

  • Funding the Growth / Margin Improvement

Preparation and active participation in all CBP, GTM, Network Ops and Grid meetings.

  • Participate in all CBP, GTM, Network Ops and Grid meetings.

Reviews

  • Compile brand reviews for presentation and approval to Division

  • Monthly Divisional call

  • Mid-year and Budget reviews

  • Ad hoc Division country presentations and workshops

  • Maintain trust and understanding in working with key stakeholders (Internal & External)
