The Academic Affairs Manager role is a field-based role within Hill's US Professional and Veterinary Affairs (PVA) Team, a team that serves as Hill's direct connection to the veterinary profession and the broader animal health industry. Members of the Academic Affairs Manager (AAM) Team are the direct point of contact between the company and Colleges of Veterinary Medicine (CVMs) and Veterinary Technician Schools (VTS). This position reports to the Professional Strategic Initiatives Manager-Schools. Academic Affairs Managers engage with key contacts in schools providing education and influence that ensures students, faculty, house officers and school staff have the knowledge and tools needed to confidently feed and recommend Hill's products. Their work is a key contributor to positioning Hill's as a valuable and trusted partner providing scientific, evidence-based advancements in the field of nutrition and demonstrating commitment to transforming the lives of people and their pets. If you are passionate about our company vision and mission, we invite you to apply for the position of Academic Affairs Manager based out of your home office in or near Pennsylvania (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania) , Philadelphia and surrounding area providing both virtual and in-person coverage to 6-7 veterinary colleges in the surrounding states, as assigned. Overnight travel is required, with an average of 2-3 nights per week, but will vary week to week.

What you will do:

• Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), Administration

• Calls on Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in assigned geography with appropriate frequency, in person and virtually. Tracks progress against individual objectives and associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

• Engages with key contacts, delivers impactful education, and executes programs/initiatives to earn active recommendation and endorsement of Hill’s products.

• Establishes influential relationships with KTLs in academia. Engages to share current research and innovation, enhance Hill’s product knowledge, and elevate role of nutrition. Provides tools and supporting literature. Develops as Hill’s advocates.

• Supports faculty members’ teaching efforts, providing relevant information and tools, and helping to develop students as future endorsers of Hill’s products.

• Builds relationships with administrators and key staff to establish Hill’s as a valuable and trusted partner with veterinary colleges. Supports inventory management and use of Hill’s products in the VTH, maximizing utilization of the VTH Feeding Program and growing penetration, distribution and share.

• Understands on campus guidelines and policies that colleges impose on vendor activities. Informs the PVA team and ensures compliance. Has a strong understanding of and complies with Hill’s policies on interactions with government officials.

• Future Endorsers and Recent Graduates

• Engages with students, house officers, and recent graduates. Delivers impactful education and executes programs/other initiatives at assigned Colleges of Veterinary Medicine (CVMs) to increase awareness of the Hill’s brand and earn (future) brand recommendation. May be called on to cover a small number of Veterinary Technician Programs also.

• Effectively utilizes digital tools to increase educational reach and enhance engagement.

• Selects and supports HSRs in assigned schools. Provides education that increases nutritional knowledge and Hill’s product expertise, and contributes to successful execution of the Hill’s VIP Market college feeding program on campus.

• Works with Hill’s Student Representatives (HSRs) to identify opportunities and coordinate activities that create a positive Hill’s presence in veterinary schools and encourages the use of Hill’s products through the Hill’s VIP Market college feeding program.

• Supports execution of Hill’s recent graduate strategy. Helps maintain influential relationships with students as they move into clinical practice in coordination with the field team.

• Professional Associations and Events

• Represents Hill’s at assigned school / academic related meetings, conferences and events

• Supports successful execution of the annual HSR Meeting. Delivers assigned content and actively participates in training and education of the HSRs.

• Supports successful execution of Hill’s Recent Graduate events,

contributing to recommendation, trial, and use of the Hill’s brand by recent graduates.

• Develops working relationships with local and regional veterinary associations to identify additional opportunities to meet Hill’s strategic goals in colleges and with students / recent graduates.

• Serves on project teams, delivers webinars, and contributes to other commercial activities, as assigned, as part of the Hill’s US commercial team.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate Professional degree in veterinary medicine (DVM, VMD or equivalent)

• At least 4 years of clinical practice experience required; current, active license to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state.

• Ability to work independently to manage a demanding schedule with irregular hours and to manage travel within geography/region.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $88,800.00 - $125,000.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.

  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
