The role

The Associate Category Management Manager will support Colgate's relationship with Loblaw's. In this role, you will act as an external consultant to LCL as an advisor and internal consultant to Colgate. You will identify opportunities that deliver category and customer growth through fact based recommendations, in addition to assess data trends, analyze LDIA data (POS & consumer), Numerator, shopper/insights data and syndicated/point of sale data to identify key customer opportunities for growth and areas of risk. This role requires a solid understanding of Category Management processes and practices to best collaborate with both customers and internal teams in the areas of effective product assortment, shelf merchandising, promotional and pricing recommendations. The ideal candidate is an energetic, entrepreneurial, proactive individual who can resolve complex problems, understand market dynamics and employ good decision making skills.

What you'll do:

  • Complete weekly reports, projects and adhoc business issues required by the buyer. Complete planogram review process (post POG reviews, vendor submissions/reco's, POG build, etc.)

  • Support LCL team internally at Colgate, post POG reviews, completing adhoc analysis, proactive reporting and identifying business issues that need to be addressed

  • Act as the category expert for LCL by delivering category best practice presentations that identify category opportunities and trends within the marketplac

  • Develop customer presentations for new innovation, key business issues, and planogram recommendations for Q1 & Q3

  • Establish strong, multi-level working relationships with the assigned customers based on mutual trust and integrity

  • Communicate and reinforce brand strategies & priorities to the Team

  • Initiate & synchronize brand strategies/priorities with customer strategies for a win-win. Execute new product initiatives accordingly

  • Support category management growth through the application of the most recent sales technologies including shelf management technologies, point of sale systems and Nielsen applications, with emphasis on fact based selling

  • Demonstrate expertise in category management and efficient assortment decisions (identify areas of opportunity for existing high perfoming items not listed and adddress distribution issues based on performance) while influencing planogram to help drive category growth

  • Utilize shelf management software and category expertise to provide recommendations for BIC shelf placement for new items and existing products with an objective of securing distribution/placement that is mutually beneficial for Colgate and the account

  • Coordinate “Fair Share of Shelf” support. Develop planogram’s using planogram software

  • Determine the effectiveness of Colgate and competitive promotions through post-analysis, and make recommendations internally

  • Be proficient in interpreting shopper and consumer research to drive category solutions development with our customers

  • Actively participate in team building and best practice sharing to increase team effectiveness

  • Works across all functional areas of the customer development team in developing the business

  • Scorecard and monitor the execution of 5P activities in line with established objectives and guidelines

Required qualifications:

  • HBA, BBA, B. Comm/MBA or equivalent

  • LCL experience in a sales or advisor capacity

  • 7+ years of similar consumer product sales industry background, consumer brand industry or other relevant sales/marketing experience

  • 3+ years experience in Category Management using a syndicated service (Nielsen, IRI/Circana, Retail Link, LDIA, etc.)

  • Proficient skills in JDA Space Planning & Microsoft applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google sheets, Nielsen Discover Platform, Nielsen Homescan, Numerator

  • Proficiency in working with cross-functional teams to achieve business results

  • Ability to work in a Hybrid environment (3x/week in office)
